On this Freedom And Independence Holiday season that runs from Juneteenth to Independence Day(June 19 to July 4), as we strive for a more perfect union, we celebrate our victories over governments that took our independence and individual freedoms. This is also the season to look critically at our government and its control over us, and to sound the alarm on the threat that centralizing this governmental control has on our freedom and independence. This is the perfect season to look at government from the libertarian perspective, for all humans are created equal!<\/strong><\/p>\n Even though our founders prevailed over totalitarian military rule from a foreign king, and, our ancestors spilled blood to end enslavement from a democratic dictatorship in a Civil War in the past, we continuously face threats to our independence. As in the past, encroachment on our freedoms comes from yet another increasingly authoritative body. That authoritative body today is the United States Federal Government. Let’s take the libertarian perspective of freedom and independence and examine the ever increasingly authoritative turn this federal government has taken.<\/p>\n Now, this proposition may seem paradoxical, but it is true: The entity our liberty loving forefathers created to protect our liberties with the adoption of the US Constitution after The Revolutionary War has turned against our independence and freedom! We call that entity the United States Federal Government. That government has grown in power and reach since its inception. Our ancestors also gave that federal government great power over states to defeat a democratic dictatorship in The Confederate States of America during the Civil War.\u00a0 The Big Lie, by the states with their democratic dictatorship, that slavery was a state’s right had consequences of eroding our founding principle of federalism. Furthermore, in the early part of the last century, politicians convinced Americans to give almost omnipotent centralized power to it. The suffering of the Great Depression was used to create a ‘New Deal’ in the relationship between the federal government and it’s citizens. That ‘New Deal’ changed the role of the federal government from promoting individual independence to promoting mass dependency on government hand outs.<\/p>\n When added up, these developments, along with countless others, have super-charged the centralization of power to Washington DC. With this newfound centralized power, each election cycle has allowed politicians to sell government dependency and protection.\u00a0 In comes the inevitable turn towards totalitarianism and tyranny. It has taken time, but this is no surprise from the libertarian perspective.<\/p>\n The good news is that each day is a new day to turn the titanic around and promote more freedom and independence. Join us in the Libertarian Party today<\/a> and celebrate and defend our freedoms and independence. Let us take this time to renew our skepticism of authority and double our efforts for a more perfect union with liberty and justice for all! May you all have a wonderfully unrestricted Freedom And Independence Holiday season.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Federal Government Threat Alert:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n As a libertarian, I am here to sound the alarm on the threat our federal government is to our independence and freedoms. So, from a libertarian perspective, let’s address several threats posed by the federal government proven to be detrimental to individual liberty and the principles of libertarianism. Here are some common concerns and I will use these concerns to write a series of articles in the spirit of our Freedom And Independence Holiday:<\/p>\n Government Overreach:<\/strong><\/span><\/a> Libertarians argue that the federal government often exceeds its proper bounds, extending its reach into areas that should be left to individual choice or local governance. This overreach can manifest in excessive regulations, bureaucratic red tape, and intrusive policies that restrict personal freedoms and stifle economic innovation.<\/p>\n Erosion of Civil Liberties:<\/strong><\/span><\/a> Libertarians are concerned about the erosion of civil liberties in the face of expanding government power. We raise issues such as mass surveillance, warrantless searches, and infringements on privacy rights. Libertarians know these encroachments undermine individual autonomy and weaken the checks and balances that protect citizens from government abuse.<\/p>\n Excessive Taxation and Spending<\/strong>:<\/span><\/a> Libertarians oppose high levels of taxation and excessive government spending. Such practices hinder economic growth, discourage personal initiative, and limit individual prosperity. We advocate for fiscal responsibility, limited government budgets, and lower tax burdens to allow individuals to keep more of their hard-earned income.<\/p>\n Regulatory Burden:<\/strong><\/span><\/a> Libertarians are critical of the heavy regulatory burden imposed by the federal government on businesses and industries. We argue that excessive regulations stifle entrepreneurship, hinder market competition, and create barriers to entry for new players. Libertarians often advocate for deregulation to promote economic freedom and allow for voluntary exchanges without unnecessary government interference.<\/p>\n Centralization of Power:<\/strong><\/span><\/a> Many libertarians express concerns about the centralization of power in the federal government. We argue that concentrating power at the federal level diminishes the influence and decision-making ability of individuals and local communities. Libertarians support decentralization, devolving power to states and local authorities to foster greater citizen participation and tailored governance.<\/p>\n
